Spanish Court

The Spaansche Hof (Spanish Court) in The Hague, also known as the House of Assendelft, is a national monumental city palace dating from the 15th and 18th centuries. In the fall of 2020, we acquired the building for redevelopment.

The building has faced hidden vacancy and overdue maintenance for the past several decades. Through this redevelopment, we will restore the monument to its former glory and open up the building and give it back to the city of The Hague.

From a circular perspective, the national monument is being reused in a high-quality manner. From an energy point of view, it is not an easy task, but through the use of all-electric floors with generation via PVT panels and increasing the insulation values, we are creating a medieval national monument with today’s comfort standards. Moreover, the garden serves as a test garden for biodiversity.

The Spaansche Hof has had various types of use over the centuries. The ground floor is highly monumental. However, the floors above are free of specific functions. Each floor can easily be converted into spaces to live, work or stay.

The first floor is operated by People@Places for weddings and corporate events, among other things. The rooms on the upper floors will be operated by Numa. In addition, wine bar ‘de Filosoof’ will move into the basement. The building is in our own investment portfolio.
